Dream, Hope, Shine

Dream, Hope, Shine: Wonderful words for a friend needing a little pick me up. This 5 x 7 card was heat embossed with the words. The image was stamped twice and filled in with watercolor pencils and blende pen. One image was cut out and adhered on top of the other image, cutting the bird, flowers and leaves separate from each other. The background color was chalked and heated. Matting the image before adhering to the card base.

You are my Sunshine

It must be spring, I'm starting to see a lot of "sunshine" in my cards. While playing with a new border punch (still need to work on this some more) I decided to make my Mother-in-Law's Mother's Day card early.

Though the picture is not as clear as I would like, I love the card. Great for cheering up a friend.

Heart 2 Heart Challenge #1

Today starts the first challenge of many with Heart 2 Heart Challenges featuring Close to My Heart products. With this card I used a standard 5 1/2 x 4" card base, sunflower card stock, chocolate and sweet leaf inks.
Distress the card base edges with chocolate ink. Using a 5 1/4" x 3 3/4" piece of sunflower cardstock I stamped a background image using black ink.
Using a 4 1/2" x 3" piece of colonial white cardstock, scallop the edges and draw black lines around the edge.
Distress a 4 1/4" x 2 3/4" piece of colonial white with chocolate ink. Stamp with the same background stamp, again in black ink and draw black lines around the edges.
Cut out a 3" heart from colonial white and distress with sweet leaf ink. Again, draw black lines around the edges.
Adhere in layers in the same order as instructions above. I used 3D foam squares on the scalloped piece and the heart to give dimension to the card.
Hope everyone enjoys this simple but elegant card that takes 30 minutes to make.

Wishing everyone a Happy Easter. Had fun with the egg hunt this morning, weather held up to hide the eggs outside for the first time in years. Made things a lot more adventurous for not only the Easter Bunny but for the kids too.

Gift Card holder Birthday Card

Perfect card for the little guy with a birthday. Using different colors of blue cardstock and B&T paper I crafted this card using a 5 1/2 x 4 card base, cutting the front with a circle cutter after layering a stamped wording image on cardstock and inking it with blue ink. I then added the cut circle B&T border to the bottom of the front. Making a tag from cardstock and B&T paper I layered this on the front at an angle. Decorating the tag with a star, circle and the words Happy Birthday and added a ribbon bow. I then stamped stars around the tag.

On the inside I added B&T paper to the entire length of the card base and then added the same stamped image cardstock inked with blue ink to only the bottom portion of the inside making sure to only adhere the outside edges and bottom leaving an opening to insert a gift card. I then added "to you!" to the inside of the front of the card base and stamped stars on the cardstock.

This card could be done in pretty pinks for that precious princess in your life as well.

Happy Crafting Everyone.

Happy Good Friday everyone. Memories of childhood Easters always bring a smile to my face. Things like the Easter Bunny always leaving an egg in my father's slipper for him to find instead of us four kids, dinner at Grandma & Grandpa's Oliver's house, finding fun things in our baskets not just candy. But the best memory of Easter was always watching The Ten Commandments on TV with my father, who was not into religion himself but since I was raised Baptist and loved watching this movie he would watch the whole thing with me start to finish.

Though I'm not sure how the Easter Bunny compares to the rising of Jesus for Easter, you have to love all the bunny stamps that are out there for those special Easter greetings. This card is one of my favorite for this year's Easter greetings. Stamping the image with black ink and then coloring with watercolor pencils and blendy pens I cut the image down to an 1/8" edge from the stamp. Using chalk I made the sky to fill in the blank areas. Matting the image on different pastel colored cardstock and then adhereing to a card base. Simple but cute.

Hoping everyone a wonderful, family filled Easter!

Howdy Partner!

Cute little cowboy for a boy's birthday. Stamp the cowboy on a piece of white cardstock and color with watercolor pencils and blendy pen. Cut a decorative border around finished cowboy. Distressing around stamped images gives it a different look. Layer onto different colored cardstock and adhere to card base. Cut out wording using the Cricut machine in the desired font, I used Howdy Partner for my wording. Adhere above and below matted stamped image.

This is my first tri-fold tag card, I do believe it turned out very well. The wording is Cherish, Hope, Love. Using distressing ink on the tags with metal eyelets on the tops, adhere the tags to the back of a cardstock strip. Add a strip of B&T (patterned paper) to the cardstock strip. Embellish as desired, I used small squares and photo hangers on this card.
